All the strange ones come out at night in Madrid. Many dressed in ridiculous outfits, we stand in the midst of chaos, three young American girls, dressed respectful and in sort of an awed state. We met up with some friends and went dancing. The music pounding and repetitive was the background until about 4 in the morning. The Spaniards laughed at us when we said we were tired because this is early for them to go to the clubs. They told us they usually GO at 3 and leave at 7 (when the club closes). Afterward we went to an all night chocolateria. The drink is pure, thick, Spanish chocolate and you eat it with a fluffy stick pastry called a churro. So Delicious, but ever so bad for you. We waited until 6 to take the metro back home and walked back to the apartment when the sun came up. I don't know how some people do this EVERY night! It is hard to imagine, but it is what they grow up with.

Coming home to a Sunrise
Sorry its been so long everyone, there is just so much to tell and it is hard to collect my thoughts and digest all of these adventures. This weekend we stayed at one of the American girl helper's place, Shelly. We hadn't really experienced the nightlife here in Madrid as we had always been too tired or too busy to even think about staying out late, but this weekend we went out and had quite the experience.

I love your story..I am both exhilarated at the thought of dancing all night and chocolate churro (oh, how I remember that) and exhausted at the thought of a nightly lifestyle ...I could manage that life once ....every 4-6 weeks and all the rest of time inbetween to catch up sleep..I am so glad to see the wonderful photos....and NOT lost in Madrid (haahaha..loved that personal message to me on that photo as you know my hysteria was rising)
